This dessert is also known as "Noah's pudding." According to Turkish lore, when the food on Noah's ark was about to run out towards the end of the flood, Noah mixed together and cooked all his remaining ingredients, and this dessert was the result.

Rinse and drain the canned beans and peas before using them and let the apricots soak in water overnight to make them juicier.

What you will need:

1 cup white kidney beans 1 cup barley 10 cups water 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup chickpeas 10 chopped dried figs 10 chopped dried apricots 1/2 cup raisins 1 cup white sugar 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, for garnish

How to make it:

Bring four cups of the water to a boil in a big pot and add the barley. Turn the heat down to moderately low and cook the barley for thirty minutes. Add the chickpeas, beans, apricots, figs, sugar, raisins, vanilla, and the rest of the water.

Cook the pudding for about forty five minutes, stirring it a few times. Let it cool down and chill it in the refrigerator. Serve garnished with the chopped nuts.
